Please classify Scion XA
#35873 from JESUS BALESTRA · Not recommended · Minutes (2024-05 Fastrack)
Thank you for your letter, the BSAC considered this request thoroughly in making our decision, but
ultimately decided to not recommend classifying this vehicle.
Despite sharing a powertrain with the Toyota Yaris, the chassis is more closely related to the Toyota Echo.
The Echo and Yaris do not share a common shock absorber, so it’s unclear if a Yaris B14 kit or any non-
adjustable coilover could be adapted to fit this vehicle. Without a clear option for a suspension kit and
given that the xA went out of production in 2006, it makes the car a bit of an orphan. This is doubly true
since the brand it was sold under has been dead since 2016.
While the BSAC is sensitive to the challenges of acquiring donor vehicles in Puerto Rico, we do not feel that

more than one or two of these vehicles would be built for the class, and therefore do not feel it would be a
worthwhile addition.
