Thank you for your letter. The recent allowance for carbureted cars to install fuel injection systems only permitted an alternate
method of delivering the same amount of air/fuel, through the same venturi/restrictor size, as parts for older carburetors are
becoming increasingly harder to source, while aftermarket fuel injection systems are becoming cheaper and more readily
available.
Asking for completely alternate transmissions, which increase the number of forward gears, as a performance benefit, is not
viewed as comparable.
