Thank you for your letter. More information is required if you have a specific request for a GCR change. The GCR rules do not
require an event to be staffed by an MD or RN. GCR 5.4.2.A. defines the role of the required Chief Medical Officer. That person
may be a paramedic with ALS training. While an MD, PA, or APN may serve in that role, it is not required to have one
onsite. Some tracks with an onsite medical facility may provide staffing who possess those medical credentials/licenses. Road
Racing events are required to have a minimum of one ALS ambulance, many events provide more than one. ALS ambulances are
staffed with the 2 paramedics which satisfies the requirement of GCR 5.4.2.A. item 1 and item 2 under Personnel.
