2.3.2 - Medical Fitness

In Medical Fitness of a Driver, GCR section 2.3.2.A, change as follows:
"3. Changes in Medical Condition (Effective 5/1/25)
a. When a driver experiences a change in their medical condition that could affect their fitness to participate, they the
driver must:a. 1. Notify the national office of the change in medical status.b. 2. Discontinue participation until examined and approved in writing by their a physician.c. 3. Submit a new completed and approved-for-competition medical form.d. If a driver seeks (or receives) medical attention during an event, that in the opinion of the event Medical Officer may

compromise his on track driving ability, the Medical Officer shall notify the Safety Steward. The Safety Steward will inform theNational Office in writing. Upon receipt the SCCA Licensing Department will contact the driver, reminding him of the obligationsstipulated under GCR 2.3.2.A.3Examples of medical conditions that may affect the ability to participate: pregnancy, cardiac or neurological problems, heartattack, heart surgery, stroke, loss of consciousness, seizures, major surgery or diagnosis of cancer.
b. If a driver seeks or receives medical attention during an event that in the opinion of the event Medical Officer may compromise
the driver's on-track driving ability or create a potential safety concern, the Medical Officer must notify both the Safety Steward
and the event Chief Steward.
1. The Chief Steward is empowered under GCR section 5.12.3.B.5 to prohibit the driver from competing in the event.
2. The Safety Steward will inform the National Office in writing. Upon receipt, the SCCA Licensing Department will make
contact to remind the driver of the obligations under GCR section 2.3.2.A.3.
Examples of medical conditions that may affect a driver's fitness to participate are:
• pregnancy
• cardio/pulmonary problems
• neurological problems
• heart attack or heart surgery
• stroke
• loss of consciousness
• seizure
• major surgery
• cancer diagnosis
c. If a driver experiences a change in medical condition during an event that could affect fitness to participate, the driver must
immediately notify race officials and discontinue participation until examined and approved by a physician. Failure to notify race
officials at the time of the event will result in a request for a physician's written approval prior to racing or an immediate
suspension of license privileges pending further review."
