Rule Book Questions

#37932 from Jackxander Perez Silva · No action required · Minutes (2025-05 Fastrack)

Thank you for your letter. The answer to question 1 is the entire transmission section of the IT general rules (section 5). Stock
transaxle housing, section a. No modification of the number of gears... section c.
Also, the general intent (way up at the top) states "competition adjustments, other than as outlined in section 9.1.3.C, are not
allowed. Other than those specifically allowed by these rules, no component or part normally found on a stock example of a
given vehicle may be disabled, altered, or removed." Changing the stock caliper to a different version would be considered
altered.
If the GCR rules doesn’t say it can be changed. it can't be changed.

#31782 from Steve Elicati · No action required · Minutes (2022-03 Fastrack)

Thank you for your letter. And we mean that sincerely!
This issue has generated more member feedback than anything in recent memory. Some excellent points have been made both
for and against the change, and they have been noted. At the moment there really is no clear answer on which path is best.
The Committee has agreed that some of the issues that have been raised require additional research and discussion before we
can move forward. That work has already begun.
Possibly for that reason, although likely there were other considerations as well, the Competition Board has decided NOT to
move forward with the 200TW tire rule for Improved Touring at this time.
We certainly believe everyone involved, particularly all of you that felt strongly enough to reach out about this, ultimately have

Show 4 more lines

the best interests of Improved Touring in mind. We are coming up on a very significant IT anniversary, and hopefully we can
celebrate it with larger car counts at events across the country.
Please don’t hesitate to continue to tell us what’s on your mind. We really are all in this together. Your ideas, support and even
thoughtful disagreement will help to keep us pointed in the right direction.

Request to Classify 2007 Audi A3 2.0l Turbo

#30351 from Steve Taylor · No action required · Minutes (2021-10 Fastrack)

Thank you for your letter. We have submitted a tech bulletin to include the Audi A3 in ITR at 2950#. Please note that Turbo cars
have only recently been allowed into Improved touring. The rules for turbo engines are very strict including stock turbo, stock
intercooler and charge piping, and stock ECU calibration. Please review ITCS 9.1.3.3 Turbocharged Engines for complete
regulations. Cars built to World Challenge or Continental/Koni Challenge etc. regulations will not be compliant in IT and should
be fielded in STU.

Pillaging the ITA Class.

#30027 from Anthony Depietto · No action required · Minutes (2021-02 Fastrack)

Thank you for your letter. All cars competing within Improved Touring should meet all ITCS regulations as found in GCR 9.1.3, no
further regulations are required. Any crossover competitor should be aware of this requirement and adhere to the
regulations. In the case where a competitor has presented an illegal car for competition, please use the procedure outlined in
GCR 8.3 PROTEST PROCEEDURES to protest the rule compliance of the car. We suggest identifying the cars from the entry list
ahead of time. We also suggest discussing the issue with your fellow Improved Touring competitors and entrants so that a
community response may be implemented.

Request for vehicle Classification

#28819 from John Budrevic · No action required · Minutes (2020-12 Fastrack)

Thank you for your letter. ITE is a regional class operated under a number of rule sets at regional levels, not a national one
controlled by the ITCS. This car is certainly a candidate for catchall rules like ITE, SPO, etc., however does not fit the IT philosophy
or performance envelopes.
The Author is in Gainesville, FL, putting him in the SEDIV. Rules for their club racing regional classes can be found on the
divisional website sedivracing.com. SEDIV offers SPO for turbocharged cars like this one but it would not meet the safety
requirements of production or GT that the category requires. The direct link is as follows:

Request to clarify maximum wheel sizes

#26328 from Jose De Miguel · No action required · Minutes (2019-03 Fastrack)

Thank you for your letter. Wheel diameter rules have been removed from the Improved
Touring category. All that is limited is wheel width and tire sizes as listed in 9.1.3.D.7 “Wheels/
Tires”.

#25828 from Improved Touring Committee · Member feedback requested · Minutes (2019-01 Fastrack)

The CRB is seeking your feedback on the following:
Allow any brake caliper up to 4 pistons to be used on any car in the ITCS. Brake master
cylinder and rotors would remain stock.
This is to take advantage of the availability and relatively low cost of pads as well as address
stock component shortages without introducing a significant change to the balance of
competition.
Please provide your feedback through crbscca.com.
